RC Yachting

Welcome to the RC Yachting Fleet page, this is the place to find out what we are doing when, keep up to date with the racing or simply find out more about the RC Yachting fleet.
The RC Yacht fleet are a friendly bunch, some are still active dinghy helms while others are now happy to sail with dry feet firmly on the lake shore, we are all enthusiastic about our sailing, enjoying the unrivaled facilites 2 mornings a week with formal racing.
There is also ample space for anyone who simply wants to sail their RC yacht informally outside of the racing fleet.
We look forward to welcoming new helms and members.

We are currently sailing
DF65's on Wednesday mornings from 10-00am
IOM on Friday mornings from 10-00am

The RC Yacht Flee has its own dedicated website where we post not only the racing results, but also hints and tips for building and racing your RC yacht.
You can also find the club weather station reports and webcam here along with more information about RC Yachts, this site has recently had a face lift, with new pages being added to help fleet members stay informed and to point potential new members at relevant suppliers, it is currently work in progress.

DF65

We are racing DF65 from 10-00am every Wednesday and have a regular fleet entry of 8 to 15 yachts with around 24 helms in the fleet.
We usually manage to sail 8 or 10 short sharp races every week so there is always a chance to recover from that poor start or mark rounding with the next port flyer never more than 10 minutes away.

If you are interested in joining in, just turn up on one of our race days or e-mail rcyachts@ripon-sc.org.uk we are always keen to see more members taking part.
Yachts come almost ready to race and start around £230-00 including the radio control and batteries, second hand yachts can often be found for much less, if you are thinking of buying a yacht do come and talk to us first so we can make sure you don't spend more than you need to.

DF65 Rigs
Three rigs can now be used in our racing series, these are A+, A or B

IOM
IOM (International One Meter) yachts are a more recent introduction here at RSC, the fleet continues to attract new members, we currently have 16 helms racing regularly with a few guests sailing with us on Friday mornings.
Just like the DF65 these yachts provide some exciting and close racing, this fleet has grown rapidly over recent months but we are always keen to welcome new members to the fleet.

RC Yacht helms must be MYA (Model Yachting Association) members so that they have the mandatory 3rd party insurance cover RSC requires us to hold.
MYA membership remains at £10-00 a year and free to Junior members who are registered with the MYA through Ripon SC for the 2024 season.
