    DISCOVER SAILING

    On Monday 5th May we will join many other RYA affiliated clubs hosting a 'Discover Sailing' event. We haven't run this event for a couple of years and hope that 2025 will bring a fresh influx of new sailors to join us. This is always a big day in the club diary and we need YOUR help to make it a success. We need volunteers

    Tony Cawood 1945 -2025 - Funeral arrangements

    Further to the announcement of the death of Tony Cawood on Thursday 6th March, aged 80 years, his family have announced details of the funeral as follows: Tuesday 25th March at 11.40a.m., Stonefall Crematorium, Wetherby Road, Harrogate, HG3 1DE. Family flowers only. Tony was one of the founder members of the club, a past Commodore and part of the team who managed the refurbishment of the club in 2014. Tony

  • Racing Rules Refresher and we need your trophies back!

    Just a reminder that the annual Racing Rules Refresher will be held on Saturday 15th March, commencing at 17.00hrs. The talk will be presented by Oscar Shilling and will cover the changes in the new 2025-28 RRS as well as going over the basics of the rules, so there will be something for everyone.   • Icicle Series 3&4 Rescheduled to Sunday 2nd March

    Following the bad weather on Sunday 23rd February, when racing was cancelled, the forecast for Sunday 2nd March is looking good, so we have rescheduled Icicle 3&4 in the hope we can go sailing!     IOM Open Meeting 25th January

    Ripon SC hosted its first IOM open on Saturday 25 th January. The wild winds of storm Eowyn the previous day had given way to bright sunshine and a gentle breeze as competitors rigged their boats. 17 boats entered, including 3 from the host club.     Just a reminder that the next working party is on Sunday 26th, prior to the AGM. Time is from 10.00-16.00, but we will be grateful for whatever time you can spare.     John Rintoul - Funeral 2.20pm. Friday 20th December - Harrogate Crematorium

    Members will be sad to hear that John Rintoul died earlier this week in Harrogate District Hospital. John was a keen Streaker sailors, racing a boat that he built himself andwas a founder member of the Wagalers group that race on a Wednesday afternoons. Towards the end of his long dinghy racing career he decided that it was time that he tried a different class of boat and bought one of the earliest Solution dinghies.

  • Bart's Bash Sunday 15th September - The results!

    Dear Bart's Bash Supporters and Sailors, On behalf of the Trustees and Beneficiaries of the Andrew Simpson Foundation, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for taking part in Bart's Bash 2024 and helping to raise an incredible £8,878 ! That is enough to fund 254 charitable watersports sessions for young people all over the country, who otherwise wouldn't have the chance to do this.

  • Otley Sailing Club 6th November - An Evening with Heather Thomas, Skipper of 'Maiden'!

    Otley SC are busy raising funds to buy 2 new Access boats. They have 2 months in which to raise £7500 which will then be match funded by Sport England. They are kicking off their fundraising with the Heather Thomas event and are looking for support from other sailing clubs to attend Heather's talk on 6th November at Almscliffe Village Hall, Huby, LS17 0EG.
