    Spring Fling Report

    The weekend of 28/29 th March saw Ripon Sailing Club get the main season off to a flying start with its Spring Fling. The weekend opened with a short course racing event running alongside Easter ROTTERS. The aim of this event was to provide up to 8 races on a compact course, providing plenty of opportunity for tight, tactical racing, particularly at starts and mark roundings.     Adult Race Coaching at Ripon SC

    When an extra weekend became free in the early season calendar the first question was what to do with it. The obvious answer was to run an early season refresher and coaching session for the club's adult sailors. The session was well attended with 19 sailors led by a team of 4 instructors and coaches.     IOM Open Meeting Sat 28 Feb

    The Northern District IOM fleet returned to Ripon SC on Saturday 28 th February, when the club hosted its second IOM open, following the success of the event in 2025. The early rain which greeted competitors soon faded away before the start, to stay dry for the rest of the event. A lot was achieved over the two days including painting, fencing, weeding, pruning, pothole filling, club boat maintenance and our regular Jetty Team were busy on the upkeep ahead of the new sailing season.   • Working Party

    The next working party will be on SATURDAY 14th February from 1000 to 1500. There are potholes to fill, on-water tasks and other jobs that may be possible depending how much snow falls on Friday. Note that the original plan to hold this working party on Sunday is being replaced by this Saturday event due to the weather (again). Lunch will be provided.

    The 2026 Sailing Season Begins!

    Whilst we have had the New Year's Day Championship and some occasional Wagalers, the formal racing season begins this weekend with the first of the Icicle Series on Sunday 8th February, with the first two races commencing at 11.00.     Working party rescheduled again

    Looking at the weather, we have decided to reschedule the working party planned for this Sunday (1 Feb) to Sunday 15 Feb. That date is provisional and will be confirmed when we see if more suitable weather might turn up.

    The working party scheduled for this Sunday, 25th January, is cancelled due to the poor weather forecast. The AGM will be held as planned at 3pm and the bar will be open. We will have a substitute working party on 1 February if weather permits.

    Working Parties

    We have 2 Members' working parties coming up. The first will be on Saturday 10 January from 1000-1500. There will be a full list of jobs (some indoors) posted on the day. It is likely to include: moving boats on the boat park, painting the interior of the race hut, replacing the race hut railing, window cleaning exterior and interior, and tidying the marker storage hut. The one scheduled for 11 January is cancelled.
