Updated Calendar and Duty Roster Now Live...

With growing confidence in our ability to resume activities at the Club, we recently updated the calendar for the year. We hope that the proposed activities will see a cautious return to organised activities, racing and ultimately the opening up of the clubhouse and its facilities, all reflecting the Govt's guidance and road map out of lockdown. Our cautious approach will see the Spring Series following a similar pattern to that we used in the autumn, with two back-to-back races, for the usual four fleets, starting at 13:00. This restriction aims to reduce social gathering and reflects the fact that we will be unable to open the clubhouse facilities until later in the season.

Appreciating that many of the membership will be suffering from sailing withdrawal; we are planning a bumper start to the Spring Series with racing on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday afternoons.

For those looking to just get out on the water, safety cover will be available for recreational sailing on Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday and Monday mornings from 10:00. At the start of the season, as most of last year, safety boats will be crewed by one Safety Boat Officer, or by two members of a single household. As always, please only sail if you are confident in the prevailing conditions. If sailing outside the times at which safety cover is available, please sail with a buddy, or ensure there is someone ashore keeping an eye on you.

With the calendar updated, and the hope that restrictions will allow it to be delivered, we are now able to publish the associated Duty Roster on the Club website's Portal. All members are asked to sign-up for a minimum of two duties each year, so please do your duty and log into the website Portal to volunteer for your chosen role and dates. For those with limited experience we aim to offer Powerboat Familiarisation sessions from May and if you would like to learn more about contributing to the Race Team, please sign-up as a Deputy Race Officer and ask for mentor support.

In this time of ever-changing restrictions (and freedoms) please check the calendar on the Club's website for the latest information on what's on, start times and activity formats.

Your committee looks forward to seeing you back on the water soon,

Jamie Kerslake

Commodore
