Welfare & Safety

The club takes its Welfare responsibilities extremely seriously and we have a designated Welfare Officer who is responsible for ensuring all volunteers meet the relevant Disclosure Barring Screening (DBS) checks. The Welfare Officer is also responsible for ensuring the club complies with the RYA's safeguarding requirements for all young and vulnerable members.

If you have any concerns regarding a welfare issue, please speak to the Welfare Office or the Y&J Secretary in confidence.

The club's Welfare and Safeguarding policy is available at the bottom of this page.

Our code of conduct for all members involved with Youth & Junior activities is available at the bottom of this page.

Our activities are always carried out in line with the Club Constitution, The Club's Welfare and Safeguarding policy and our Code of Conduct.

Changing Rooms

The changing rooms are single sex and this rule applies to all members.Consequently members changing young children of the opposite sex to themselves are requested to use the disabled/large changing room.

Supervision and Safety Ratio

We also ensure that we meet the RYA's recommended supervision ratios for all events and activities. Where appropriate, risk assessments will be completed by the Session Leader and steps taken to mitigate identified risks. However, the club expects all parents to continue to take responsibility for their children whilst on club premises, both on and off the water. The final decision for whether a child participates in an activity, remains with the parent.
