Whilst we have had the New Year's Day Championship and some occasional Wagalers, the formal racing season begins this weekend with the first of the Icicle Series on Sunday 8th February, with the first two races commencing at 11.00. Two additional races have been added to this series, but check the calendar to see which weekends the races in the series are being run.

This year, the calendar is packed with activities. There is a working party on Sunday 15th February and there are lots of jobs to do, so come along and help get the club ready for the year ahead. Wednesday Wagalers will continue, weather permitting, with sailing arranged through the Wagalers WhatsApp group.

The RC Sailors, who have stubbornly stood on the banks and raced for most of the winter continue their series on Wednesday and Friday mornings with the second IOM open meeting on Saturday 28th of February. This was a great event in 2025, so even if you don't race an RC yacht, pop down on Saturday and see the boats being raced by some of the top sailors in the class.

There are various training courses being run, so check the calendar to see what's on andcontact the training team if you want to sign up.

Saturday racing is now an established part of the club racing scene and there is a full programme throughout the year. On Saturday 28th March there is a new event, the 'Spring Fling' comprising a series of races to really hone your boat handling and racing skills. We are planning a social evening after racing, so you can swap stories of the dasy over food and a drink from the bar. This is followed on Sunday by the perennial Methuselah event, so a great weekend to be at the club.

Finally, whilst we hope for pleasant winds and sunny days, remember it is still early in the year and the water temperature is still cold. Club bye-laws state: Full wetsuits, drysuits or sailing clothing of an appropriate thermally insulating nature must be worn whilst sailing or on safety boat duty between 1st November and 31st March, so wrap up warm and we look forward to seeing you on the water!
