National Lock Down - Statement

Following the most recent Government announcement of a national lock down between 5th November 2020 and 2nd December 2020, I am writing to you all this evening to make you aware that we must now close our sailing club for this period.

As of 11pm 4th November 2020, our access system will be switched off and access to the grounds, water and facilities of Ripon Sailing Club will be prohibited until 2nd December 2020. This is now a legal requirement in line with the current lock down rules.

Our committee have worked tirelessly over the past few months to ensure members could get as much access to our wonderful facilities as possible and we are all disappointed to be having to implement this closure; but at this time, we have no other option available to us. Rest assured that we will continue to review the guidance and if we receive any notification that we can change this position, within the law and guidance, we will be in touch.

COVID working group will be monitoring the site remotely as much as is possible and making any essential visits to check security and respond to any site issues. If any member requires urgent access to the club during this lock down period, they should email - commodore@ripon-sc.org.uk

I appreciate that this isn't the news that anyone wanted to hear but our focus will now be on reopening the club on 3rd December and returning to our planned activity up to Christmas. We will be in touch in the coming days to let you know about our range of activities over lock down and if anyone would like to volunteer to get involved with this, please drop me an email and I will put you in touch with the coordinating person.

As ever, I am grateful to you all for your patience, understanding, kind words and actions during this tricky time - I am sure that with our combined tenacity and resilience that the club will emerge from this in a strong and stable position.

Keep safe and well,

Jamie Kerslake

Commodore
