RYA Adult Level 2 & Junior St2 & St3 Day 1

28th August, 09:30 - 17:00

RYA Adult Level 2 (including Youth sailors age 16yrs+)

This 2 day course is for any sailor who has achieved Adult Level 1 or is sailing to L1 standard. Youth sailors age 16yrs+ who have achieved Level 1 may join this course.

RYA Junior Stage 2 (ages 7 - 15yrs)

For our junior sailors (age 7-15yrs) who have achieved RYA Stage 1 or who are sailing to St1 standard.

RYA Junior Stage 3 (ages 9-15yrs)

For our junior sailors (9-15yrs) who have achieved RYA Stage 2 and have had some further sailing experience since gaining the St2 award. This course will be taught in mainly Tera and Topper dinghies. Competent/confident Oppy sailors may also join this group.

If the course is full, please add your name to the wait list tickets. We will go to this list if there are any late cancellations and we have spaces to fill.

If the course is oversubscribed, by adding your name to the wait list, we know who to offer places to, at the next course.

RYA Level 2 (Adults/youngsters ages 16yrs+)
2 day course
THE RYA SYLLABUS FOR ADULT LEVEL 2
This ticket is for both days.
Participants will be sailing single handed dinghies.
Participants should be able to swim and be confident when in water.
Participants on this course should be sailing at RYA Adult Level 1 standard.
Participants will have the opportunity to further develop their sailing skills. You will be taught by one of our RYA qualified instructors.
Each day will be a mix of on shore briefings and on the water activities.
Once sailors have achieved this award they are eligible to join the Improver sessions at the Club on selected Saturdays and are eligible to hire club dinghies.

Bookings will close 3 days before the event or when all tickets have been sold.

During the course you will become a more confident sailor. On completion you should be capable on the water in windier conditions. After gaining RYA Level 2 you are eligible to hire dinghies from our club fleet when safety cover is operating. Boat hire is booked through online tickets on our website. See “Sailing/club boats” page of the website for details and prices. You will be eligible to attend Saturday improver sessions and join a level 3 course.

For Junior sailors who have achieved RYA St2 and have gained further sailing experience since. Juniors joining this course should be confident sailors, they should be able to make their own decisions about when to tack and gybe when out sailing (ie not relying on the instructor to tell them), they should be able to sail around a triangular course – knowing how to set the sails according to the wind direction on the boat.
