Supervised time on the water to improve your sailing skills. Our volunteer training & coaching team will provide a supervised, coach led session to focus on key skills to progress your sailing. You must have RYA Level 1 or RYA Stage 1 to attend these sessions.
The emphasis is on running a fun, friendly and supportive session for all. Where possible the group will be split based on the most suitable criteria (experience, boat type, age etc), this is dependent on sufficient numbers of suitably qualified and experienced session volunteers being available to do this. Please remember that club members volunteer their time to provide these sessions and whilst we strive to have sufficient volunteers available to allow us to cater for different age range & competency needs, sometimes we are unable to do this.
Club boats are available to hire for the session, per the club's Terms & Conditions of hire which are available on the club website.
Session fees remain at £10.50 per person for a 4th season and are priced to ensure the Coaching operation breaks even each year once safety boat fuel, maintenance costs and coaching team overheads have been covered. Boat hire costs are directed into the club fleet maintenance fund.
If you do not have your own buoyancy aid, please don't forget to book a club one. Club policy is that club buoyancy aids are available until you have completed your RYA Stage 2 or RYA Level 2, at which point the club expects you to have invested in your own sailing kit. We charge for the use of our buoyancy aids on Improvers as we need to ensure we cover the replacement costs for this vital safety equipment. The club recommends you purchase your own buoyancy aid as soon as possible.
If you have any questions about Improvers, please email the coaching team using email@example.com.
