If you are hiring a club boat for personal use then you should have your own buoyancy jacket as the club’s policy for buoyancy jackets is that they are available for organised RYA Training and Coaching sessions until you have achieved your RYA Level/Stage 2. If you are hiring a club boat for Kickstarter or personal sailing then you must have reached this competency level and the club takes the view that you have taken the decision to participate in sailing as a long term hobby and should invest in your own sailing kit, including a buoyancy jacket.
