Following the events of yesterday, and the passing of Queen Elizabeth ll, the committee and I wish to provide some clarity over events in the coming days.

Firstly, I am sure members of the club will join the Committee and I in mourning the death of Her Majesty The Queen. We all send our deepest sympathy to the Royal Family and pay tribute to the Queen's extraordinary life of public service. For many years, her majesty was the Patron of the Royal Yachting Association, the governing body of our sport - you can read the RYAs full tribute here.

In the coming days, the club will observe the traditions of the state as well as observe the guidance provided by the RYA. Members will note the Union Jack flying at club at half-mast, and where possible, club flags will be flown in a respectful way.

Streaker Open Meeting - Saturday 10th September

The Streaker open meeting will take place as planned, however, please note that the start time will be pushed back to 1130 to allow for the proclamation at around 1100. In line with RYA guidance, the prize giving will be low-key and a minutes silence will be held at the morning briefing.

Barts Bash - 11th September

The Andrew Simpson Foundation have expressed their profound sadness at the passing of Her Majesty The Queen, but they have encouraged sailors to use Barts Bash 2022 as an opportunity as a sailing community to remember Her Majesty. Inspired by her spirit, strength and resilience over the years of her reign, we will join together to commemorate her life of service to the nation. A minutes silence will be held at the morning briefing.
