Thank you day 2021 is an opportunity for us to reflect on what has been a very difficult 18 months for our club. Together we have weathered a storm that none of us could have imagined, and now, as we move into the summer of 2021, we look forward to more normality returning to our lives.
In my latest club email, I wanted to offer my thanks to each and every member who has stuck by us - supported us - respected the guidance and decisions the club has made, and ultimately, helped us reach where we are now. It is no small achievement to be recognised as RYA Club of the Year Regional Finalist (North East) in them midst of a pandemic, and this was only possible through the engaged and determined approach our members show, as well as the prudent and careful management of the club in the years previous.
I also wanted to publicly acknowledge the hard work put in by the committee and volunteers, who have dug deep when everything around them has been turned upside down. Many of our committee and volunteers have pressured jobs, as well as other commitments outside of RSC, and without fail, when asked to help and contribute to the running of the club - they have all stepped up.
Our club is thriving, our sport is popular and well supported in the region as well as on the national stage. As we move closer to the summer Olympic games, it is my hope that we will once again see a post Olympic boom that lead to record numbers of people discovering sailing in late 2012.
So whether you are a new member, a regular racer, an occasional sailor, volunteer or just a supporter - thank you for everything you do for us, it is genuinley appreciated!
