Dawn to Dusk Race Saturday 10th August!

This is a fun event designed to bring experienced and less experienced sailors together for a day of light hearted racing in the club double-handers, using 4 boats, with teams drawn on the day.
Why not join the 'Dawn till Dusk' racing event at RSC on Saturday the 10th of August.
The event will run from 8am until 8pm and will use the clubs double handed boats.
Breakfast sandwiches, toast, snacks, hot and cold drinks will be available throughout the day.
The clubs BBQs will be lit over lunchtime for you to bring your own food.
All the club facilities will be open with camping from Friday the 9th until Sunday the 11th.
There will be games on the lawn for the younger sailors (weather permitting and films on in the conservatory.
This is a team racing event with at least one experienced helm in each team. Team numbers to be confirmed, once we have final numbers. It will be an opportunity to get involved in all aspects of racing both on & off the water.
It will be a really fun day for all the family.
The cost is £5 per person to cover costs.

The format for the racing will be as follows:
Club Boats to be used: 1 x Comet Trio, 1 Laser 13, 2 x RS Visions. All boats to be two sails only with no spinnakers.
0800 On site to rig boats, get changed, bacon rolls and tea/coffee available. Race team to set course
0900 Sign-on so we know how many we have
0910 Race Officer to allocate teams
0915 Briefing and launch boats
0930 Race start
Four teams, suggested names, (but you can choose your own!):
"Ripon Rudders"
"Knaresborough Kickers"
"Farnham Furlers"
"Harrogate Halyards"
The race to be run in flights of 1 hour, with number of completed laps by each team recorded, no handicaps
At the end of the flight, there will be two sound signals on the auto-hoot and all teams come ashore and swap with their team mates. All teams move into the next boat so that everyone has a go at sailing each type of boat. Racing resumes immediately.
All teams ashore can have a go at helping to record laps in the race hut or sharing safety boat duties.
Running total of laps for each team to be shown on the notice board after each flight comes ashore
1100 bar opens (for those ashore!)
1730 8 hours of racing will have been completed and event ends. Each team will have raced each boat twice.
Teams come ashore and put boats away and get changed.
1815 Prize-giving and BBQ. Prizes for the most laps, best fancy dress etc..
2000 Formal end to the event and bar closes
