Launch crew, fire stewards

Ensure crew are wearing suitable non-flammable clothing and have sufficient light to be able to work safely. Provide tapers for lighting fireworks. First aid kit to be provided in launch area, dedicated first aider appointed. Launch team briefed on safety controls prior to event commencing.

Guests and Club Members attending the event

Define and segregate no go zone for launch area and bonfire. Appoint stewards to ensure no-go zone is maintained. First aid station in clubhouse with dedicated first aider present.

Damage to hearing

Launch team/ stewards

Provide appropriate PPE (ear defenders).

Hit by flying objects

Guests and Members

Ensure no-go zone is appropriate for wind direction etc and that personnel are not allowed in the fall out zone.

Bolting livestock

Neighbouring properties

Notification to local properties 7 days in advance of event.

Stored fireworks

Launch team/ stewards

Provide locked fireproof storage facility which is segregated from Members and guests and under constant supervision. Fireworks brought by Members to be handed over at a control point away from the clubhouse. Launch team briefed on process to be followed.

Firework failure/ malfunction

All attending

Launch team to be trained in the safe storage and launch of pyrotechnics including the action to be taken in case of malfunction. Clearly defined fall out zones established with built-in margin of error.

Inhalation of fumes

Launch team/ stewards

Maintain zones and provide face masks for use if required.
