Our new early season coaching sessions with Race Coach Bernard Clark, now named 'BANTER' (Beer And Nattering on Thursday Evenings about Racing) got underway on Thursday 27 April and will run for a further 3 weeks. The first session was land based and the team enjoyed a session which covered race prep, including the need for both boat and helm/crew to be race fit, starting sequences and the importance of being 'on the line'.

This Thursday sees the first of 4 sessions, led by our Commodore Bernard Clark, looking at basic racing skills. The plan for week 1 is to stay ashore, but to look at rig controls and what they do and explore why they are so key for racing set up. Due to high demand for places, we have added an additional Learn to Sail Course to the programme. This will run on 1 and 2 June and will cover junior and adult syllabi. We still have a few last places on the Improvers course running next weekend (29th 1st and 6th May) - this will cover RYA junior stage 3 and RYA adult level 2 skills. Please book now

This Easter Sunday we have the usual Spring morning and afternoon series races with the added bonus of on the day Easter egg prizes. Best 3 out of 4 races to count with the first race at 11:00am. So if you want to get into the chocolates - Literally! then come along and join in the racing.

Over 20 members of the club attended an RO familiarisation course held on 11 April. With a Fish and Chip supper kicking the evening off, Bernard and Jennie took the attendees through the paperwork, flags, clocks and (very loud when it's in the clubhouse) auto hoot system and how they are used for club racing. Discussions included setting good start lines and how to set a course which doesn't result in carnage.

The training team will be running a 'Parent Helpers and Assistant Instructor Training day' on Sat 22 April. It offers an insight into how training is organised at RSC and how parents and other members can get involved and help. Its also a good start for anyone considering becoming a Dinghy Instructor in future. The Assistant Instructor qualification is recognised by the RYA. If you want to take part please sign up

We've got a busy weekend planned for the club at Easter, and hope that we are going to get some sunshine to enable us to make the most of the break. Our Dragon Force fleet (radio controlled model yachts) will be holding an Open Meeting on Good Friday - the water is open for other users but if you are sailing please keep clear of the DF65 race area.
