Over 20 members of the club attended an RO familiarisation course held on 11 April. With a Fish and Chip supper kicking the evening off, Bernard and Jennie took the attendees through the paperwork, flags, clocks and (very loud when it's in the clubhouse) auto hoot system and how they are used for club racing. Discussions included setting good start lines and how to set a course which doesn't result in carnage.

The training team will be running a 'Parent Helpers and Assistant Instructor Training day' on Sat 22 April. It offers an insight into how training is organised at RSC and how parents and other members can get involved and help. Its also a good start for anyone considering becoming a Dinghy Instructor in future. The Assistant Instructor qualification is recognised by the RYA. If you want to take part please sign up

We've got a busy weekend planned for the club at Easter, and hope that we are going to get some sunshine to enable us to make the most of the break. Our Dragon Force fleet (radio controlled model yachts) will be holding an Open Meeting on Good Friday - the water is open for other users but if you are sailing please keep clear of the DF65 race area. The 2017 Ripon Sailing Club Open Meeting takes place on Saturday the 8 th April 2017. The open meeting is the first event in the Solo Northern Travellers Series and promises to be well attended. The galley will be open and serving supper between 5pm and 7pm on Wednesdays from 5 April through to early September. Two courses will be on offer and it's a great way to grab a bite to eat if you've been sailing in the afternoon and/or are going to sail in the evening. The galley will be open from 2.30pm with hot drinks and cakes to tempt the WAGALERS!
