Tony Richardson

We are very sorry to have to inform members that Tony Richardson passed away following a heart attack on the Friday before Christmas. Tony, and his wife Gaye joined the sailing club in 1974 and soon became active members. Tony sailed an Enterprise which was the largest and most competitive class in the club at that time. He travelled round the country with other members to race meetings and really enjoyed the annual trip down to Salcombe for the Regatta. He attended a boat building course in Lowestoft and subsequently built several beautiful Enterprises. He became invaluable to members for mending rudders, centre boards and holed boats at breakneck speed so that they could get back onto the water. He also stocked a wide range of chandlery, life jackets and clothing at his house making it readily available to club members. Those of you who remember him will recall his camaraderie, his sense of fun and his one armed press ups! Our sympathy goes out to Gaye. He will be sadly missed.
