50th Anniversary Celebratory Year
Social Calendar
Sat 17th March New Member's Day: 1-4pm; open
to all members. Come and find out more about your club, book
training courses, meet your committee who will try to answer
all your questions.
Fitting Out Supper: 7pm; come for a start
of season supper, drinks and a chat. Tickets only £7/head
for a 3 course chicken meal. If you miss out on supper tickets
why not just come down for drinks and a chat?
Sat 12th May Commodore's Informal Reception:
4pm-late; see photographs and issues of Starboard Tack from
the early days and presentations by group members. Come and
chat to old friends and toast your Club in its Jubilee year.
Sat 26th May 10 Hour Race: 9am-7pm: 1 boat,
as many helm/crew as you like. Commemorative prizes for the
winning team. Why not get sponsors and donate to the RNLI
or your favourite charity? Galley and bar open all day. Barbeque*
in the evening,
Sat 9th June Sailing Tryout Day: 10am-4pm;
bring your friends, try a different class of dinghy, take
a ride round the lake in a safety boat, watch model boats
etc. Galley and bar open.
Sat 16th June Car Treasure Hunt: 4.30pm;
expect to take up to 3 hours, you will need pen, paper and
a road map. Meet back at the clubhouse for supper and drinks.
Sat/Sun 23rd/24th June 50th Anniversary Regatta:
1.30pm Saturday, 10am Sunday. 5 races, 3 to count. Open to
other Clubs. Commemorative prizes. Party Night on Saturday
with a barbeque* from 6pm, followed by music. Bar extension
until 1am. Why not take advantage of free camping at the club
and save yourselves a journey home?
Sat/Sun 7th/8th July National 12 Event:
speak to Peter Chignell if you would like the opportunity
to crew for the weekend or just take a sail in a National
12.
Sat 7th July Party Night: Barbeque* from
6pm followed by music. Bar extension until 1am. We are expecting
a good crowd of National 12 sailors but why not come down
and join in the fun. There should be plenty of space for camping
if you want to make a weekend of it.
Sat 14th July YHYSA (Final Round): All welcome
to come down and support our young sailors. Encourage your
children to get out onto the water so that RSC can retain
the trophy for a third year. Join in our early evening barbeque*
whilst waiting for the results.
Mon 27th August Bank holiday family Fun Day:
11am start.
Raft, relay, balloon races, junior treasure hunt and much
more. Why not camp at the club and make a long weekend of
it.
Wed 29th August Informal Pursuit Race: 6.45pm.
Keep those Wednesday evening races going with our usual get
together for supper, drinks and a chat after the race.
Wed 5th-September Informal Pursuit Race:
6.45pm. As above.
Sat 8th September Anniversary Dinner: Time,
cost and venue to be announced when numbers are known. Please
let us know, either by e-mail or via the notice board, if
you are interested
Wed 12th September Quiz Night: 7.30pm: £1.20/person,
teams of 4. Supper and drinks available.
Wed 19th September Virtual Skipper: 7.30
pm; try your hand at computerised sailing and racing. Supper
and drinks available.
Sat 13th October Junior End of Season Party:
6pm; Come down and celebrate your 2007 sailing season achievements;
see photographs taken throughout the year.
Sat 3rd November Halloween/Bonfire Night:
6pm onwards for food and bar. Bonfire lit at about 6.30pm
and fireworks set off from about 7pm. Bring your own fireworks,
preferably 1 or 2 large rather that lots of small ones. Pumpkin
lantern competition for the kids.
Sat 24th November Laying up Supper/Prize Giving:
Time, cost and venue to be announced.
Wed 26th December Boxing Day Whisky Stakes:
11am; Galley and bar open. Buffet donated by members served
at the end of racing.
Tues 1st January 2008 New Year's Day Whisky Stakes:
Details as for Boxing Day.
*Barbeque packs to cook yourself + salads: large: £5,
small: £3.50. Deserts available.
