Conditions of membership of Ripon Sailing Club

Important information you must consider before submitting your application for membership:

If you are not prepared to carry out any of the duties outlined below then please do not submit an application form.


The club is run by a management committee elected by the members, all committee members are unpaid volunteers who carry out their committee duties in their own spare time for the benefit of the club. Please bear this in mind if your application appears to be taking some time to process.

All members of the club are expected to take part in running the club's activities, duties will include making yourself available for race office duties on at least 2 occasions during the season, at least one of which will be on a Sunday.

A calendar of events is published in March of each year which lists members names and the duties allocated to them for the season. You may arrange swaps with other members if the dates are not convineint (an opportunity to select your own duty dates is given when the draft calendar is displayed before the start of each season).

Race office duties consist of:

OOD Race office: is resposible for running the days racing. 
AOD Assistant race officer: as the tittle suggests is the race officers assistant.
SBO Safety boat officer: drives the safety boat/s
ASBO Assistant safety boat driver
AAOD Assistant to the assistant race officer (OOD in training)

Galley Duties:
On a volunteer basis, this duty is currently an optional one.

In addition working party days are scheduled for club and grounds maintenance in the early part of the year before the active sailing season starts and members are expected to participate in at least one of the working parties.
