THE TOPPER AREA CHAMPIONSHIPS
took place on Saturday 5th July with a good turnout
of 27 competitors, including 6 outside clubs.
The top 5 places were strongly contested and the
wide range of abilities meant that the fleet soon
spread out as the races progressed. Although predominantly
junior sailors, parents & adults competed
for their own prize categories as well as the
traditional Trident UK spot prizes being drawn
from the top hat. RSC sailors were well represented
in the results with Sam Towers gaining 3rd overall
and Scaling Dam/RSC Kieran Hill being placed 2nd.

THE OPEN REGATTA was a very mixed
bag of weather and conditions, light wind and
rain on Saturday gave way to warm sunny weather
on Sunday but along with that came very windy
conditions with vicious gusts up to 50mph leading
to the racing being abandoned after the first
race. Yachts & Yachting report here...

National 12 - 'Naburn Paddle'
Bernard Clark made it 3 wins in a row when he, crewed by daughter Ellie, won the 'Naburn Paddle' National 12 open meeting at Yorkshire Ouse SC on 14 and 15 June. Sailing their Vintage boat 'Xanthus' (a mere 45 years old), Bernard and Ellie won the event with a race to spare. |
EGM Draft Minutes from the meeting
that took place on May 18th are available from within
the Members section
of the web site.
YHYSA Saturday 31st May - A good
turnout, but very light airs greeted the 30 competitors
for the Saturday event. After an initial postponement
the first race was run but after an initial reasonable
start the slight breeze soon died off as the race was
shortened. Further racing was abandoned and competitors
amused themselves by swimming, paddling windsurf boards
& throwing Sam Towers in the water before prizegiving.
